Admissions and Application Information

Students who have completed their first year of law school and who are in good standing at schools accredited by the American Bar Association or the Association of American Law Schools and non-U.S. law students with requisite English language skills are eligible to apply for admission to the program.

Lawyers from common and civil law countries may also apply for admission. Lawyers accepted to the program will have the option of attending the entire program or one of two half-sessions on a space available basis. The first half-session is June 22 through July 4. Classes for the second half-session will begin July 7 and end July 19.

Non-U.S. students with an LL.B., J.D. or equivalent degree from a foreign law school may also apply and be considered for admission to the Capitals of Europe Summer Abroad Program. With the approval of the Professor Del Duca, prospective LL.M. students may, upon admission to Penn State University's Dickinson School of Law LL.M. program, apply their coursework from the Capitals of Europe Summer Abroad Program toward a Penn State Dickinson LL.M. degree. All courses offered are fully accredited and equivalent for credit purposes to those courses offered at Penn State Dickinson.

A non-refundable registration fee of $150 must be remitted after submission of the application form. Because only a limited number of students may enroll, we strongly recommend an early enrollment in the program. Although we prefer that registration materials (application, registration fee, and letter of good standing) be received no later than March 16, 2008, students may be admitted to the program after this date based on available space.

In past years a few withdrawals for just cause have occurred after the date for registration in the program has expired. Students who wish to be considered for admission into the program in the event of a late withdrawal of a registered student may submit an application requesting that they be placed on a wait list for this purpose.

Students and lawyers can apply online or you may request information online or by contacting us at 1-800-840-1122 or by e-mail at lfd2@psu.edu or acp17@psu.edu.
