Professor Gildin advises ACLU attorneys on deposition taking techniques
February 14, 2011
Professor Gary Gildin recently served on the faculty of the Advanced Deposition Program for attorneys from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), organized by the National Institute for Trial Advocacy and delivered to ACLU attorneys from across the country. Held in Las Vegas, the program consisted of a combination of lectures and small group workshops in which the ACLU attorneys took depositions of lay and expert witnesses and received feedback from the program faculty.
One of the nation’s leading teachers of advocacy skills, Professor Gildin has developed and teaches a nationally-recognized set of courses in advocacy. In a forthcoming article, he suggests that each of the techniques of taking a deposition is dictated by one of the discrete skills of cross examination at trial.
