| Uniform Laws Annotated is a compilation of laws adopted by the National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws. The Conference is recognized primarily for its work in commercial law, family law, the law of probate and estates, the law of business organizations, health law, and conflicts of law. Uniform laws have no legal effect unless adopted by the state legislature. |

Consult the Directory of Uniform Acts and Index.
- A pamphlet found at the end of the set contains a list of all of the uniform laws contained in the set, a state-by-state list of uniform acts adopted by each state, and a general subject index.
- Note: each volume has an index covering the laws it contains.

STEP #2
A. Locate the text of the uniform act in the appropriate volume.
- Each uniform law contains a table of jurisdictions indicating the states which have adopted the uniform law and the state statute citation.
- Official comments of the commissioners and individual state variations of the uniform act appear before the text of the act and after the specific sections of the act.

B. Skim the research references and case citations.
- Each uniform law section is followed by references to law reviews, Corpus Juris Secundom, West topic and key numbers, and citations to court cases, if pertinent.
