Latin American Arbitration Review
The Latin American Arbitration Review (LAAR) is one of the only independent sources of the latest breaking information on arbitration involving Latin America. The LAAR is a quarterly publication run by Professor Thomas E. Carbonneau, general editor, and Mary Helen Mourra, editor in chief.
Students who are interested in Latin American arbitration have the opportunity to write for the LAAR as editorial assistants. Students can write on subjects such as the latest investment arbitration decisions, ISCID, WTO, or MERCOSUR cases, recent legislative changes in Latin American countries or decisions emerging from national courts that affect international arbitration.
The LAAR includes articles on Latin American arbitration written by leading scholars and experts in the field. It also includes case summaries, legislative updates, translations of documentary resources, MERCOSUR news, breaking news on bilateral investment treaties and free trade agreements in Latin American countries, as well as national news affecting treaties. The LAAR also contains information on conferences, seminars, courses and arbitration events in Latin America on arbitration.
The LAAR monitors developments in international arbitration in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela.
