Graduate Level Courses
Law students may take up to six credits of graduate or professional school courses toward their J.D. degree. Courses that qualify must be either (1) 500-level or higher; or (2) 400-level with the approval of an Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. Graduate level credits are included on your transcript in total credits, but are not calculated into your GPA. Graduate level credits will only be applied toward your J.D. degree if you earn a B or higher.
If the graduate course is offered at your campus location, you may schedule the course on eLion. If the course is offered at another Penn State location, please contact the Registrar's office at that campus for registration procedures.
It is important to note that some academic units may impose restrictions in their specific graduate programs that preclude students outside of their program from taking certain courses.
