MINUTES:

1. Candidate Forums
   1. Report from Tim and Abigail on possibility of U.S. Senate and Pennsylvania Attorney General candidates speaking
      1. Corbett is interested in speaking
      2. Possibility of forum between the Green candidate and the Democratic candidate
      3. Haven’t heard back from Congressman Hoffel
2. A pending proposal from APALSA
   1. Mari Matsuda will speak on a topic that will be of general interest to the school community
      1. Will probably speak in October or early November
      2. APALSA plans to advertise in the law school, college, and possibly the community
   2. She may be flexible on price and APALSA plans on making another offer
      1. Travel will probably be included in honorarium
   3. Women’s Law Caucus and MALSA may help to sponsor, but groups have not received their budgets yet
   4. The Speakers Trust voted to provide APALSA with $2,000
3. Jen’s Meeting with the Dean – Budget and Vision
   1. Suggestion of having speakers on terrorism, new sentencing guidelines, and recent Supreme Court activity
4. Future Speaker
   1. Lunchtime Speaker Series
      1. Occurs at a bad time for most people
      2. Plan to have future speakers in the evening
   2. Governor Randall
      1. Would like to make a tradition of inviting the Governor
   3. Alumni Speaker
      1. Investigate possibility of inviting alumni Frank Emerson who currently works for the CIA
      2. Prof. Cole has some additional contacts who could speak on terrorism
      3. Invite Secretary Ridge next semester
   4. Suggestions and Discussion
      1. Charlie suggested a panel dealing with the new sentencing guidelines
         1. Discussion of inviting Judge Conaboy, Judge Rambo, and Judge Connor
      2. Tim suggested a symposium on the impact of new gambling laws
5. Libertarian Presidential Candidate
6. Induction of New Members
   1. Charles Kane (2L)
   2. Jason Reimer (1L)
   3. Shelley Ewalt (1L)
