- Candidate Forums
- Report from Tim and Abigail on possibility
of U.S. Senate and Pennsylvania Attorney General
candidates speaking
- Corbett is interested in speaking
- Possibility of forum between the Green
candidate and the Democratic candidate
- Haven’t heard back from Congressman
Hoffel
- A pending proposal from APALSA
- Mari Matsuda will speak on a topic that will
be of general interest to the school community
- Will probably speak in October or early
November
- APALSA plans to advertise in the law
school, college, and possibly the community
- She may be flexible on price and APALSA plans
on making another offer
- Travel will probably be included in honorarium
- Women’s Law Caucus and MALSA may help
to sponsor, but groups have not received their
budgets yet
- The Speakers Trust voted to provide APALSA
with $2,000
- Jen’s Meeting with the Dean – Budget
and Vision
- Suggestion of having speakers on terrorism,
new sentencing guidelines, and recent Supreme
Court activity
- Future Speaker
- Lunchtime Speaker Series
- Occurs at a bad time for most people
- Plan to have future speakers in the evening
- Governor Randall
- Would like to make a tradition of inviting
the Governor
- Alumni Speaker
- Investigate possibility of inviting alumni
Frank Emerson who currently works for the
CIA
- Prof. Cole has some additional contacts
who could speak on terrorism
- Invite Secretary Ridge next semester
- Suggestions and Discussion
- Charlie suggested a panel dealing with
the new sentencing guidelines
- Discussion of inviting Judge Conaboy,
Judge Rambo, and Judge Connor
- Tim suggested a symposium on the impact
of new gambling laws
- Libertarian Presidential Candidate
