Speakers Trust Meeting – Wednesday, January 14, 2004

MINUTES:
- Senator Mitchell
- Declined $10,000 offer we proposed
- We budgeted $10,000 and the dean will guarantee an additional $6,000
- Ideas for co-sponsoring? (ADR???)

- Discussion
- Should we go back with a $15,000 offer?
- Our budget is $24,000 for this academic year, do we want to pay the difference to have a great speaker?
- Go to organizations first, then pay the difference out of our account
- Declined $10,000 offer we proposed
Unanimous vote to pay out of Speakers Trust account the remaining $4,000 + travel/expenses of talk
- Josh Hill is stepping down from the Trust.
- Symposium
- Nothing happening right now, may be postponed/on hold
- Costs will not be very high – War College to co-sponsor
- Lunch Speakers
- Discussed two years ago – program where local figures and friends of the school are invited to speak to small groups of students during lunchtime
- Would set up in classrooms…to check on best times/rooms
- Goal = 2-3 this semester
- Everyone on the Trust to try to secure one lunchtime speaker
- Sean Farrell to check on room availability and best times
- Trust will pay travel and do lunches
- Abigail to draft a form letter/invite
- Start ASAP
- Need to talk to OUTLAW re: transcript for law review for February speaker (Colleen)
- Email to Organizations re: speakers for the spring & directing to our website (Jens)
