- President calls meeting to order
- Attendance taken: Seth Zimmerman, Tara Walsh, Edward Cawley, Michael Boland
- Quorum not established
- Presentations
- Outlaw — Helen Boyd
- How do legal rights change when the husband undergoes a sex change?
- This will present a great scenario for legal questions that are not necessarily cut and dry.
- Boyd is not a legal expert, but well spoken and written. Her husband will be joining her; he may choose not to speak
- Outlaw would like to have a professor on board to answer the legal end of the questions, possibly Professor Rains or Professor Muller-Peterson
- Boyd speaks at conferences and universities; she is speaking at Yale in the near future.
- She will talk about transgender and adoption issues.
- Outlaw has sent an e-mail to the executive board list for co-sponsors.
- Outlaw is expecting at least 80 people.
- The event will take place on a Friday between 11 a.m. and 1p.m.; this should draw a lot of 1Ls because of the free lunch that will be offered. 1Ls do not have class at this time.
- Environmental Law Society — Professor Robert McKinstry
- Environmental law is the future; these issues will be bigger than ever within the next 100 years and they will affect every field of law.
- Our environmental field at Dickinson is lacking; it needs to improve because of the rising importance of this issue
- ELS is asking for: $150 food, $30 travel, $30 hotel
- ELS wants to spend their other money on adopting a few packs of wolves; so it is important for them to get this money.
- Problem: The SBA didn't give money to ELS for adoption of wolves so it would need to be reallocated, and the SBA is not allowed to give money for donative purposes — need to talk to Ryan or Maureen
- The rest of this event will be covered by funds ELS has from the SBA.
Taisha and Wayne (for Ryan Becker) arrived
- Phi Alpha Delta — Judge's Night
- Army War college said that there will be no problems for students to get onto the campus.
- Dickinson is not available.
- Martini glasses will be the gifts for the judges.
- American Legion is more expensive than the Army War College . \PAD will have to pay by glass for alcohol at American Legion.
- At War College there would be a table of wine and it would not be by the glass.
- Army War College is a lot nicer of a venue than the American Legion
- There has been great cooperation from the people at War College concerning student driving onto campus and holding dates for PAD, etc.
- The American Legion menu is not quite as vast; the Army War College has already given PAD a menu and students and judges can decide what they would like upon arrival.
- Dickinson College had no Thursdays available.
- Walking distance (American Legion) v. quality of event (Army War College); PAD wants to ensure the quality of the event since they are bringing judges out for the event.
- PAD would have to do all of the decorating for American Legion.
- Dean Storey will help with bussing for this event.
- Tickets- $5.00, no more that $10.00
- Excess money would come back to the Speakers Trust.
- Possible dates: April 5, April 12 , or April 13.
- Discussion:
- Judge's Night should be held at Army War College- it is a nice event and it should be held at a nice venue.
- The Trust gives a brief description of Outlaw's presentation to Taisha and Wayne who missed the presentations.
