Speakers Trust Meeting Thursday, April 21, 2005

Present: Jens Wagner, Abigail Whiffen, Colleen Piker, Michelle Szelewski, Rakhi Patel, Charles Kane, Matt Stabile, Michael Boland, Shelly Ewalt, Jessica Kusek, Jason Reimer, Josh Parsons

    1. Jens thanked everyone for their hard work this year
    2. Introduced the trustees and officers for 2005 – 2006
      1. President – Charles Kane

          2. Co-sponsored by the Dickinson Democrats and the Republican Committee
    2. New Business
      1. Scheduling next year
        1. Josh would like Speakers Trust to spearhead an effort to schedule all organizational speakers next year
        2. Work with the academic schedule
        3. Attempt to spread out speakers so that more people are able to attend
        4. Speakers Trust is only encouraging organizations to schedule though us
          1. This is not forced
          2. Works to everyone’s benefit because speakers will be better distributed throughout the semester
      2. Speakers Trust hopes to sponsor two speakers a year
      3. John Podesta
        1. Potentially coming October 21
          1. May come earlier in the fall
          2. Need to work with Appellate Schedule
        2. Will cost between $3,000 and $4,000
          1. Has been invited by a personal friend
          2. Dickinson Democrats will co-sponsor
    3. Open forum
      1. Tim has spoken with Bill Scranton
        1. If he receives the Republican gubernatorial nomination, he will probably come to speak
        2. If he does not receive the nomination, hopefully that candidate will speak
      2. Josh suggested taking groups to meet with speakers at their place of work
  3. Adjournment
