Speakers Trust Meeting — Thursday, October 14, 2004

Present: Jens Wagner, Abigail Whiffen, Colleen Piker, Rakhi Patel, Michelle Szelewski, Tim Wachter, Charles Kane, Shelly Ewalt, Jason Reimer, Kevin Skjoldal

MINUTES:

  1. Frank Emmerson – Terrorist Threat Integration Center
    1. Mr. Emmerson will bring the General Counsel for the Terrorist Threat Integration Center for a panel discussion
      1. Prof. Cole has said that he could assist by being the moderator or MC
    2. Would like to take Mr. Emmerson, the General Counsel, and Prof. Cole to dinner
    3. Michelle will send invitations to Profs. Gilden and Cole and letters of invitations to Mr. Emmerson, the General Counsel, and Mr. Michael Traxler of the Board of Governors
  2. Women’s Law Caucus
    1. Approved $60 for refreshments
    2. Jennifer Allshouse will be speaking on Rape Aggression Defense
  3. Blakley Panel
    1. Charles has contacted Mr. Waid and is waiting for a response
    2. Charlie has e-mailed Prof. Place about moderating
    3. Rahki is contacting a U.S. Attorney
    4. Charlie spoke with Judge Conaboy about speaking next semester
      1. He can speak about his experience on the panel or the implementation of Blakley
  4. Sean Hannity
    1. Kevin has heard that Sean Hannity has been speaking for free at schools on the same night that Michael Moore speaks
    2. Would like to look into extending an invitation
  5. Other Speaker Planning
    1. Glen Thomas, Public Utility Commissioner
      1. Will be speaking on February 2, 2004 at 7:30pm
      2. He will be speaking on Regulatory Law
    2. Tom Ridge
      1. Tim spoke with the scheduling committee, but nothing can be done until after the election
    3. Professor Haughney
      1. Ask if he could speak about his experience in the Army JAG Corps
      2. Alternatively, his participation in the liberation of concentration camps in Nazi Germany
