Professor Bysiewicz is a visiting professor of law
at Penn State Dickinson teaching Legal Analysis, Research
and Writing. Professor Bysiewicz specializes in international
customs law and compliance. Following her graduation
from Duke University School of Law in 1991, she practiced
as an attorney with the Commission of the European
Union in Brussels. She worked on the harmonization
of laws in various sectors including those affecting
the automobiles and cultural property. From 1992 until
1997, Professor Bysiewicz represented clients in transactional
and compliance matters with the law firm of Coudert
Brothers in Brussels and New York. She has lectured
on free trade agreements such as the North American
Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and the General System
of Preferences (GSP) at the World Trade Institute.
Professor Bysiewicz participates in the postgraduate
program at the Georgetown Family Center, where she
researches the application of systems theory to the
law.
