Judy Swarthout

Associate Law Librarian and Legal Research Professor Judy Swarthout is the liaison for both the LEXIS and Westlaw services and coordinates all training for students and faculty. In addition to providing reference service, she teaches Legal Research I and II for first year law students. She also instructs students in advanced research for upper-level substantive law courses and provides research training to the law reviews. She has assisted in the publishing of several technical tutorials, in both paper and online formats, on how to use the LEXIS-NEXIS® database. She has also been recognized for her technical assistance in the writing of LEXIS-NEXIS® for Law Students: A Workbook in Online Research by Stephen Emanuel. During the past few years, she has written numerous book reviews for Legal Information Alert. Professor Swarthout designed Professor Gary Gildin’s e-textbook for Civil Rights Litigation and continues to provide research and technical assistance to Professor Gildin and others who use his e-textbook.

Professor Swarthout is an active member of the American Association of Law Librarians and the International Association of Law Librarians. She has been a member of and an officer of the Board of Directors of the Elizabethtown Aquatic Club since 1998. She is also a member of the Bar of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court.
