Mr. Peterson is the founder and executive director of the nonprofit Center for Climate Strategies (CCS). He also is an adjunct professor at Penn State's Dickinson School of Law, where he teaches Climate Law and Policy, and is a research associate at the Penn State Department of Geography. At CCS Mr. Peterson oversees the development, implementation and donor support for numerous climate policy projects with U.S. states and regions, currently including 16 U.S. states, two U.S. regions, three Canadian Provinces and the border states of Mexico.
Mr. Peterson began his work on global warming as a Brookings Legislative Fellow to U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman in 1995, and later served with the White House Climate Change Task Force during the Kyoto Protocol negotiations. Previously Mr. Peterson held several policy posts at the U.S. EPA as well as senior positions in nonprofit consulting, state government, and the investment industry. Mr. Peterson holds an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, a Master of Environmental Management from Duke University, and a B.S. from the College of William and Mary.
