The department, created in 1905, has as its mission the "pursuit of good health" and is responsible for planning and coordinating health resources throughout Pennsylvania. This web site contains background information and a description of its organizational structure, including role of Bureau of Facility Licensure for nursing homes and Bureau of Community Home Licensure for intermediate care facilities and home health agencies.
