Medicare provides health insurance to "people age 65 and over and those who have permanent kidney failure and certain people with disabilities." This site provides general medicare information for consumers as well as technical information for researchers and other professionals.

DisabilityInfo.gov, one of President George W. Bush's Initiatives, is a one-stop interagency directory of government links to disability-related information. The links are arranged in broad categories including civil rights, education, employment, housing, health, income support, technology, transportation, and independent living.

GovBenefits.gov, launched in April, 2002, is a collaborative effort of federal agencies including the U.S. Departments of Labor (managing partner), Agriculture, Education, Energy, Health and Human Services, Homeland Security, Housing and Urban Development, State, Veterans Affairs, and the Social Security Administration. The website provides federal and state benefits eligibility information and contains a questionnaire to assist in determining potential eligibility.

Medicare.gov, from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, offers links to general information regarding Medicare billing, Medicare appeals process, long term care, and Medicare health plans. Links to current news items such as the Medicare approved drug discount cards are listed in the Features section. The Search tools section includes links to publications, prescription drug and other assistance programs, nursing home compare, home health compare, Medicare personal plan finder, and frequently asked questions.

The Center for Medicare Advocacy, Inc., located in Willimantic, Connecticut, is a non-profit organization that provides education, advocacy, and legal assistance to the elderly, disabled, and chronically ill. Advice, written materials, and legal services are available for a fee, but are free to Connecticut residents. The website offers information about medicare coverage, rates, and appeals, as well as, links to current litigation and related sites. The Legal Information Institute (LII), founded by Thomas Bruce and Peter Martin in 1992, is a non-profit activity of the Cornell Law School. It contains full text of U.S. Supreme Court and other federal court cases , U.S. Code, CFR, Federal Register and links to other federal materials. It also provides access to full text of state and international legal materials. The site can be searched by keyword, jurisdiction, or browsing the list of law topics. The site also features a "spotlight" of current legal events in the news.
