- The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC) is a federal corporation
created by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA). Its
Board of Directors consists of the Secretaries of Labor, Treasury, and Commerce.
The PBGC protects the retirement incomes in more than 31,000 defined benefit
pension plans. The website offers access to news releases, speeches and testimony,
