Volunteer Resources

  • Action without Borders — This Web site provides access to organizations, internships, volunteer opportunities, and jobs in 165 countries. It also has current stories on various public service topics.
  • The New Voices Web site contains an extensive list of public service groups looking for volunteers.
  • Public Service Law Network — Resourceful in helping students, graduates, and lawyers find pro bono and public service opportunities including internships, fellowships, and paid or unpaid attorney positions.
  • www.volunteer.com — general volunteerism site


Jobs

  • Equal Justice Works — This Web site provides up-to-date public interest news, events such as fairs, conferences and awards, and publications. It also offers an annual Equal Justice Works Fellowship award.
  • The Jobs area of the NLADA Web site includes positions in civil legal services, defender organizations, pro bono and public interest organizations, public interest law firms and academia.
  • New York Lawyers for the Public Interest — This is a not-for-profit legal office tackling problems of low-income and underrepresented people in New York. It provides postings of internships, fellowships, and full-time jobs.
  • Public Service Law Network — Resourceful in helping students, graduates, and lawyers find pro bono and public service opportunities including internships, fellowships, and paid or unpaid attorney positions.

  • American Civil Liberties Union
  • Alliance for Justice
  • Amnesty International   
  • Coalition on Human Needs — This is an association of national organizations working together to advance public policies that promote the needs of low-income and other vulnerable populations. It lists some public policy positions available for attorneys.

  • Lawyers Without Borders
  • National Immigration Project — Provides a listing of local and international law-related positions, especially dealing with immigration law.
  • National Legal Aid and Defender Association — This Web site is a useful resource when trying to find information on equal justice. It also includes a search for jobs in pro bono and public interest organizations, civil legal services, defender organizations, public interest law firms, and academia.
  • Probono.net — This is an online resource for attorneys who would like to volunteer in different areas of practice. It also provides a calendar on CLE trainings.
  • Trial Lawyers for Public Justice — A national public interest law firm dedicated to creating a more just society.
  • USPIRG.org is an excellent resource for initiating searches on important public interest issues and is the umbrella site to individual state PIRGs.
