or shine, prepare to pound the pavement on the
morning of Saturday, April 8 by participating
in the Penn State Dickinson School of Law’s
annual 5K Race Judicata to raise funds for the
law school’s Loan Repayment Assistance Program
(LRAP). The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. and is
open to community members and students, alumni,
faculty, friends and family of the law school.
Runners and walkers alike are encouraged to come out and show their support for LRAP, an innovative program that enables heavily indebted law graduates pursue public interest legal careers by providing them with considerable loan repayment assistance.
"The race is a fun, healthy event for participants of all running and walking levels. It's a great way to bring students, alumni, community members, and friends of the law school together to support our alumni who are using their legal degrees in public service," said Marcy McCullough, Race Judicata committee member.
The course will begin and end at the law school. Registration will be held at the law school between March 14-16, and March 20-24, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Café Per Se, 150 S. College Street, Carlisle. Interested runners and walkers can also complete and mail the registration form found on the law school’s web site at www.dsl.psu.edu. All participants are asked to confirm their registration between 7:00-8:00 a.m. in the Levinson Curtilage on the day of the race. The $15 entry fee, which includes a free t-shirt, will directly benefit the loan repayment assistance program.
The LRAP received initial funding from the University but thrives on additional contributions from alumni and friends. Last year, 85 Race Judicata participants raised more than $1,285 for the program. Past participants have enjoyed the race and are enthusiastic to return. "The race was a fun day. Nice course and a good cause. I look forward to running it again this year," said Josh Parsons, Penn State Dickinson Class of 2006.
