Former General Counsel of domestic violence assistance organization joins faculty

Julie Goldscheid joined the faculty of Penn State Dickinson in June 2003.

Formerly General Counsel of Safe Horizon, the nation's largest domestic violence assistance organization, and Acting Legal Director of the NOW Legal Defense and Education Fund, Professor Goldscheid served as trial attorney in the first cases brought under the federal Violence Against Women Act. She argued in favor of the Act's constitutionality before the United States Supreme Court in United States v.Morrison.

Professor Goldscheid's current scholarship focuses on gender-based violence and the relationship between victim compensation programs and the economic impact of domestic violence on the national labor market.
