Penn State Dickinson Awards Degrees
Carlisle, PA (May 16, 2005) — The Penn State Dickinson School of Law awarded 239 Juris Doctor and 13 Masters of Law degrees at the Class of 2005 Commencement ceremony held Saturday, May 14 at 10:30 a.m.
Penn State Dickinson welcomed 1983 alumna Lisa A. Hook, who graduated first in her class, as the event’s keynote speaker. Hook is the former president of America Online (AOL) Broadband, Premium and Developer Services where she coordinated AOL’s initiative to create the industry’s premier broadband service. Hook first joined AOL in 2000 as senior vice president of AOL Mobile and went on to serve as chief operating officer of AOL Mobile and president of AOL Anywhere before assuming her post with AOL Broadband. Hook recently left AOL to found a new company.
Widely esteemed in the telecommunications and media business, Hook was a partner at Brera Capital Partners LLC prior to joining AOL. She has also served as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Time Warner Telecommunications, vice president of Time Warner Inc., legal advisor to the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission, and senior attorney at Viacom International Inc. Currently, she is a director of National Geographic Ventures and a member of the Board of Trustees of the National Public Radio Foundation. Hook received her undergraduate degree from Duke University.
Penn State Dickinson graduates Kevin M. Skjoldal, president of the law school’s Student Bar Association, and John Stockwell Payne represented the Class of 2005 as student speakers.
