1948
The Pennsylvania School Boards Association solicitors
presented John R. Miller Jr. with
a Distinguished Lifetime Achievement in School Law
award at a recent conference. He is only the fourth
person to receive that recognition from the PSBA solicitors
in approximately 50 years. John was also recognized
by the State College (PA) Area School District which
held a dinner in his honor. Additionally, the Bellefonte
(PA) Area school board along with the teachers association
recognized him at a meeting.

David J. Humphreys is the Ward 3
Commissioner of Mt. Lebanon Municipality, Pittsburgh,
PA.
1963
At its October meeting, The Penn State Dickinson School
of Law Board of Governors elected H. Laddie
Montague Jr. chairman. Laddie is managing
principal and shareholder of Berger and Montague P.C.,
Philadelphia, PA and chairman of the firm's antitrust
department. He has served on the law school board
since 1994.
1972
Harris Corporation recently named Eugene S.
Cavallucci vice president-general counsel.
Martha “Marty” Baum Walker
was recently appointed as a director of Menno-Haven
Penn Hall Retirement Communities. She has also been
named Advisory Council Vice-President of The Shippensburg
University Performing Arts Center.
1977
Joseph R. Ferdinand was recently
elected president of the Kiwanis Club of Hazelton,
PA. Joseph is a partner in the Gillespie, Ferdinand,
Miscavige, Baranko and O’Donnell law firm in
Hazelton.
The Columbus Day Association honored Lackawanna County
(PA) Judge Carmen D. Minora as its
Man of the Year during an October dinner. He was elected
to the bench in 1995. He serves on the Tobyhanna Blue
Ribbon Task Force and is a member of the American,
Pennsylvania and Lackawanna County Bar Associations.
1978
G. Philip Rutledge recently joined
Shumaker Williams P.C. as a shareholder and member
of the corporate and financial services department.
1982
Christopher Houston was recently
profiled in the Carlisle Sentinel. He is with the
Cumberland County (PA) Redevelopment and Housing Authority.
Christopher serves as president of the board of Sadler
Caring Center, which provides health care to the poor
and is on the board of Historic Carlisle Inc. He is
also a member of the Carlisle Rotary Club and Muskets
of the Crown, a group of local French and Indian War
and Revolutionary War re-enactors.
1984
Elyse E. Rogers was recently elected
a Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate
Counsel. She is with Keefer Wood Allen & Rahal,
LLP in Camp Hill, PA.
This past spring and summer, Douglas K. McClaine
worked on the SEC registration statement for a secondary
offering of MSA stock and moved the company from the
AMEX to the New York Stock Exchange. He was present
at the bell ringing ceremony which marked MSA’s
first day of trading on the exchange. Douglas writes,
“It was an extremely exciting and fulfilling
time for MSA and me personally and I am grateful to
Dickinson for the excellent education that I received
which enabled me to accomplish these tasks.”
1985
At the October 1, 2004 National Council Meeting of
the Federal Bar Association, a group of lawyers who
promote civic and community works and better understanding
between the Federal Bar and the Federal Courts, Robert
J. DeSousa was appointed to the National
Executive Committee of the Federal Bar Association.
He is the executive vice president, secretary and
general counsel of the Vartan Group, Inc. located
in Harrisburg. Bob is also major in the Pennsylvania
Army National Guard.
1988
Michael G. Fitzpatrick was successful
in his recent bid for United States Representative.
He will represent Pennsylvania’s Eighth District.
1991
In October, Wendy P. Witt, co-presented
a three hour seminar to a national gathering of estate
planning attorneys, financial advisors, and certified
public accountants in Dallas, Texas. Topics covered
included Conflicts in Joint Representation, Ancillary
Businesses, Multi-Jurisdictional Practice, and Selling
a Law Firm. Wendy, co-founder of the Elder Law and
Estate Planning Firm of Witt Burkett, LLC, Pittsburgh,
PA; is a member of the Elder Law Committee of the
Allegheny County Bar Association, the Senior Action
Coalition, the National Network of Estate Planning
Attorneys, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys.
She currently serves as a Girl Scout Leader, school
volunteer, and “soccer mom” to three children.
Wendy and her family live in O’Hara Township,
PA.
1992
In October, Conolog Corporation, an engineering and
design company that provides digital signal processing
solutions to global electric utilities, announced
the appointment of David M. Peison
to its Board of Directors. He has been with Deutsche
Bank's Global Markets Division in New York City since
2002.
1993
Marc A. Ross, founder of Rock the
Earth, an environmental advocacy nonprofit organization
based in Denver, CO, answered questions about the
group in the October 11, 2004 edition of Grist Magazine.
1994
Roger W. Foley Jr. is a partner at
Adams and Foley LLC, Pittsburgh, PA.
1995
Montgomery County elder law attorney Robert
C. Gerhard III has written a treatise on
Pennsylvania Medicaid and Nursing Home Care. Robert
helps seniors protect their assets by applying for
Medicaid benefits before all their funds are depleted
by long term care costs.
Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School hosted Paige
Rosini as the guest speaker at a recent National
Honor Society induction ceremony.
Marga Torrence married Dr. Paul
Mikulecky on October 9th, 2004 in Telluride, Colorado.
Marga is a project director with the Education Commission
of the States and Paul is an internist with Swedish
Medical Center. The couple resides in Denver.
Mark M. Wall and his wife, Susan,
recently welcomed a new addition to their family.
Zoey Ilyse Wall was born in November 2003. She is
Mark and Susan’s second child. In addition,
Mark has joined the law firm of Hill, Ward & Henderson,
P.A. in Tampa, FL where he continues his practice
in the areas of complex commercial litigation and
real estate litigation.
1996
James J. Conaboy has been certified
as Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial
Advocacy. He is an associate with Abrahamsen, Moran
& Conaboy, P.C., in Scranton, PA.
Dennis R. Marion, Administrator
of the Cumberland/Perry (PA) Mental Health and Mental
Retardation Program, was recently profiled in the
Carlisle Sentinel. Dennis is active with Carlisle
Summerfair, North Middleton Parks and Recreation,
St. Patrick’s School and the Carlisle Health
and Wellness Foundation. He lives in Carlisle with
his wife Camille, a Penn State Dickinson School of
Law professor, and daughter Anna.
1997
In October, 2004, Susan J. MacDonald
began a post as executive director of the Washington
County (MD) Commission on Aging. She lives in Shepherdstown,
WV with her husband Randolph and daughter Caitlin.
American Lawyer Media in Pennsylvania has selected
David P. Zambito as one of Pennsylvania’s
“2004 Lawyers on the Fast Track.” He was
also recently profiled by the Pennsylvania Law Weekly.
David volunteers as a supervisor for Dickinson School
of Law’s Field Placement Clinic. He is a business
department associate in Saul Ewing’s Harrisburg,
PA office concentrating his practice in regulatory
and commercial issues involving utilities.
1998
This past spring was exceptionally busy for Merrick
J. Benn and his wife Rachel as they welcomed
their first child, Ashton Reese, on March 11. Additionally,
Merrick joined the finance, financial services and
bankruptcy services practice group of Piper Rudnick's
Baltimore office.
1999
On September 10, 2004, Pennsylvania Secretary of Commonwealth
Pedro A. Cortes was the guest speaker
during the Hispanic Month Celebration at Penn State
Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and College of Medicine.
He spoke on “Health Needs for the Hispanic Population
in the State of Pennsylvania.”
Pedro also spoke to students at Newport (PA) High
School on September 21, 2004 for Pennsylvania Student
Voices, a project designed to engage young people
in the political process.
David A. Lopez was recently featured
in a Harrisburg (PA) Patriot-News article. In addition
to his practice, David is the board president of Health
Share of Cumberland County, a nonprofit organization
that helps poor people with medical expenses.
Donald B. Lynn Jr. and wife Amy
are proud to announce the birth of their daughter
Ann Sinclair on October 18, 2004. Ann weighed in at
6 lbs 8 ozs.
Jeannie I. Rivera announces her
engagement to Jeffrey Baravarian. They plan to wed
in August 2005.
2000
Denise M. Cordes has joined Eckell,
Sparks, Levy, Auerbach, Monte, Rainer & Sloane,
P.C. She will be practicing in both the business and
estates and trusts departments.
Julie G. DiSalvio has joined the
Philadelphia office of Stradley Ronon Stevens &
Young, LLP. She is an associate in the firm’s
litigation department concentrating her practice in
commercial litigation, including business disputes,
civil rights, construction and employment.
2001
Scott W. Brady was recently hired
as an assistant United States attorney in Pittsburgh.
He will serve in the Violent Crimes and Narcotics
group of the Criminal Division. Scott and his wife,
Carrie, also recently celebrated the first birthday
of their son, Aidan Warren Brady, on September 15,
2004 and love being parents!
Brian J. Dougherty is an associate
in the litigation department at White and Williams,
LLP, Philadelphia, PA.
2002
Todd C. Hough has joined the firm
of Maria P. Cognetti and Associates, Camp Hill, PA
as an associate. He will practice matrimonial law.
John C. Porter has joined Rawle
& Henderson LLP, Philadelphia, PA as an associate.
He will focus his practice on the defense of commercial
motor vehicles and their insurers.

Samuel J. Bezek is a staff attorney
at the Securities and Exchange Commission, Division
of Enforcement in Washington, D.C.
Mandy J. Lloyd is an associate at
Stetler & Gribbin, York, PA, specializing in workers’
compensation defense litigation.
Christina L. Saveriano joined Hill
Wallack of New Jersey in September, 2004.
2004
C. Brian Crane recently took the
oath of membership in the Columbia–Montour (PA)
Bar Association. He has joined the Derr, Pursel, Luschas
& Norton Law Firm in Bloomsburg.
Ray Ghaner was recently sworn in
as a member of the Huntingdon County (PA) Bar Association.
He joined the firm of Bierbach, McDowell and Zanic,
and will specialize in bankruptcy law.
Linda J. Olsen has become associated
with Killian & Gephart, LLP in Harrisburg, PA.
She will concentrate her practice in the areas of
complex litigation, land use and education law.
Georgia Reed married Matthew Stone
on August 6, 2004. They reside in Marietta, PA. Georgia
is a law clerk for Judge David R. Workman, Lancaster
Court of Common Pleas.
Josh P. Parecki and Courtney
A. Stouff were engaged on Saturday, October
16, 2004 in San Francisco, CA. The wedding will be
held on September 17, 2005 in Fort Worth, TX.

Jennifer L. Spears ’00 and
Hillary A. Dean ’04 have joined Martson
Deardorff Williams & Otto, as associates.
Jennifer joins the law firm’s litigation practice
focusing on all aspects of family law, including divorce,
custody, support, Protection from Abuse, adoptions,
termination of parental rights and name changes. She
is a member of the American, Pennsylvania, and Cumberland
County Bar Associations (Family Law Sections), and
the Dauphin County Bar Association. Jennifer is also
a member of the Independent Collaborative Attorneys
of Central Pennsylvania. She is licensed to practice
in Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Hillary joins the firm’s Estates Group and
focuses her practice on municipal law, real estate,
taxation and litigation. She is a member of the Pennsylvania
and Cumberland County Bar Associations and is admitted
to practice in Pennsylvania. Hillary is also a member
of the American Inns of Court. She was recently accepted
into Leadership Cumberland, a civic group devoted
to community service and leadership. As part of her
involvement with the program, she will intern with
the Carlisle YWCA Executive Board.
