1947
Charles E. Miller died August 15,
2001. (Alumni Office notified July 6, 2005.) Charles
was a former Navy Commander, retiring in 1964. He
had also retired from his Workers’ Compensation
practice at Miller & Cooper, PA, in Orlando, FL.
Robert
L. Rubendall was awarded an Honorary Degree
of Public Service at the spring commencement ceremony
of HACC (Harrisburg Area Community College). Robert’s
service to HACC and central Pennsylvania includes
serving as a member of the HACC board of trustees
for an unprecedented 40 years. At the time of his
retirement from the board in 2004, his uninterrupted
service spanned the entire history of the college,
from the first meeting of the board of trustees on
March 2, 1964. It was through his role as a member
of the Halifax Area school board and his civic leadership
in northern Dauphin County that he was among the visionary
group of HACC founders who successfully garnered regional
and community support in order to create Pennsylvania's
first community college.
1950
Joseph C. Kreder died May 23, 2005.
He was a partner at Kreder Brooks and Hailstone, LLP
in Scranton, PA. He is survived by wife, Elizabeth,
and children, Elizabeth Kreder McCoy ’80,
her husband Richard McCoy ’76,
Joseph J., Mary Veronica and Anne.
1951
In March 2005, The Harrisburg Area Community College
Foundation elected Dr. Howell C. Mette
to its board. Howell is a senior partner with Mette
Evans and Woodside, Harrisburg, PA.
Alexander Ogle died July 8, 2005.
Alexander was an attorney with Ogle Policicchio &
Frantz, Somerset, PA. He was twice elected Somerset
County District Attorney. He also served on the boards
of the American Red Cross, Somerset County Chamber
of Commerce, Children's Aid Society, Somerset Hospital
and the Municipal Authority of Somerset Area Schools.
1952
The Alumni office was notified that the Honorable
William F. Harth died recently. William was
an Essex County (NJ) District Court judge.
1956
Sandor Yelen was elected to his 26th
consecutive term as president of the Northeastern
Pennsylvania Alumni Chapter.
1960
Thomas M. Painter died July 11, 2005.
Thomas was a former Waynesboro councilman. He was
elected mayor in 1973 serving for 12 years. Thomas
was also a partner in the Waynesboro firm of Ullman
and Painter. He was very involved in the community
participating in the American Red Cross, Waynesboro
Little League Association, Waynesboro Lions Club,
Mental Health Clinic of Franklin County, Franklin
County Welfare Council, Waynesboro Area Sesquicentennial,
Greater Waynesboro Chamber of Commerce and United
Way. Thomas is survived by wife, Shirley, and children,
Mark, Sharon, and Thomas.
1961
William F. Hoffmeyer was recently
the moderator of an all day program on the General
Practice of Law Update sponsored by the Pennsylvania
Bar Institute. The program was broadcast by WITF-TV
to over thirty viewing facilities in Pennsylvania
for Pennsylvania attorneys. He was also the author
and lecturer on materials pertaining to the annual
update for real estate law. William was named a Pennsylvania
Super Lawyer in the June 2005 issue of Philadelphia
Magazine. He is a partner at Hoffmeyer & Semmelman,
LLP, York, PA.
1970
On May 24, 2005, a crowd of over 300 gathered at Merighi’s
Savoy Inn, Bridgeton, NJ, for a reception and dinner
to honor Assignment Judge George H. Stanger
Jr. on his May 31, 2005, retirement.
1972
Theodore A. Adler, a founding member
of the Camp Hill, PA, law firm Reager & Adler,
P.C., was recently recognized as a Pennsylvania Super
Lawyer. Ted is a board certified civil trial advocate
who concentrates his practice in the areas of construction
and government contracts litigation.
In April, 2005, Magisterial District Judge Thomas
E. Martin Jr. presented a Newton Center Public
Lecture entitled “Christian Participation
in Abolition of the Atlantic Slave Trade”
examining the effects of the evangelical awakening
in England, and its effect on social injustice.
Larry B. Selkowitz has been appointed
Hearing Committee Member serving the Disciplinary
Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania. His three-year
appointment began July 1, 2005. Larry represents health
care and related providers in health care fraud, litigation
and compliance matters He is a shareholder in the
Harrisburg, PA, office of Stevens & Lee’s
Health Care and Litigation departments.
1975
Thomas M. Barron is the twenty-seventh
president of the Burlington County Bar Foundation,
the charitable division of the bar association.
1976
John “Joe” F. Perry has
left Springer Bush & Perry P.C. after 28 years.
He is currently in retirement mode but searching for
a new career.
James C. Walker recently accepted
a proclamation from the Quakertown Board Council celebrating
April 3 through April 9, 2005, as the week of the
Young Child. The presentation was made to James as
board president of The Childrens Development Program.
James is an associate at Hamburg, Rubin, Mullin, Maxwell
& Lupin, Lansdale, PA. His areas of emphasis include
Estate Planning, Commercial Law and Real Estate.
1977
Joseph A. Lach moved to Koff, Mangan,
Vullo, Gartley & Lach, Kingston, PA, effective
February 1, 2005.
The Alumni office was notified that William
J. Patrick died. William was a sole practitioner
in the Berwick, PA, area.
1978
Ralph K. Durstein was named by Delaware
Attorney General, M. Jane Brady, to head the major
litigation unit in the civil division of the Delaware
Department of Justice.
Anthony J. Gerace Jr. died June

Karl F. Longenbach was elected as
2005 president of the Northampton County Bar Association.
On April 19, 2005, Donald F. Smith Jr.
received the Leroy Hyman Award for outstanding service
to the Berks County Bar. Donald is currently serving
on the boards of the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation and
MidPenn Legal Services.
Albright Care Services of Lewisburg, PA, named Harry
(Ron) Swift to its board. Ron is general
counsel and executive vice president of PeoplesBank
as well as president of SYC Insurance Services Inc.
and SYC Settlement Services Inc.
1979
Paul D. Roy joined Time Warner Cable’s
law department as director of finance. Working in
Stamford, Connecticut, he will monitor and control
spending on legal services, lead the budgeting process,
and coordinate with the finance department.
1980
On May 14, 2005, Keith A. Blank graduated
magna cum laude with a masters in divinity from the
Evangelical School of Theology in Myerstown, PA. Keith
is now the full-time director of youth and family
ministry at Faith Presbyterian Church, Harrisburg,
PA. He no longer practices law. Keith lives with his
wife, Danette, and son, Benjamin, in Linglestown,
PA.
Teresa L. Conaway is the head of
reference and instruction at the Texas Tech University
School of Law Library.
1982
After 15 years of service to the Commonwealth, Pennsylvania
Workers Compensation Judge William J. Hall,
retired to return to private practice with The Law
Office of William J. Hall and to establish Hall Mediation
Services, a statewide dispute resolution firm headquartered
in Scranton.
1983
Michael E. Scullin has been awarded
the Medal of Honor of the French region of Rhone-Alpes.
The award recognizes Michael’s work in developing
relations between the region and Philadelphia, and
particularly his role in the development of the Sister
Program and attorney exchange between the bar associations
of Philadelphia, PA, and Lyon, France. The medal was
presented by French Senator Jean Besson, who is also
the vice president of the Rhone-Alpes region. Only
twenty-five persons are selected for the award of
the prestigious Medaille d’Honneur
each year. Michael is of counsel to the law firm of
Monteverde, McAlee & Hurd, where he handles a
broad variety of commercial, nonprofit, international
and litigation matters, and a business consultant
to firms and nonprofits, advising on global expansion
initiatives. He is also a member of the Board of the
French American Chamber of Commerce in Philadelphia,
PA, and an adjunct professor at Temple University.
1984
The board of directors of MSA elected Douglas
K. McClaine as a vice president. He will
continue his present responsibilities as secretary
and general counsel as well.
1985
Caroline H. West was recently appointed
senior vice president and chief compliance officer
for Shire Pharmaceuticals, a UK company with offices
in Wayne, PA.
1986
Zella Smith Anderson was selected
by the board of directors of Pinnacle Health Systems
as one of twelve "Women of Strength" for
2006. This honor is based upon professional and personal
accomplishments. The photographs of all twelve women
will be featured in a calendar that will serve as
a fundraiser for Pinnacle Health Systems. The photographs
will be revealed at a reception honoring the women
at the Harrisburg, PA, Whitaker Center on August 9.
In addition to her role as senior litigator for the
Pennsylvania Insurance Department of the Governor's
Office of General Counsel, Zella is the Founder and
Director of the Central Pennsylvania Animal Alliance
(CPAA), a 501(c)(3) charitable organization comprised
of individuals and over thirty-five shelter and rescue
groups committed to ending euthanasia as the means
of animal population control. (For more information

Peter E. Riccobene and his firm
Teschon, Riccobene & Siss, P.A. were profiled
in the May 18, 2005, issue of the Midland Park, NJ,
Villadom Times. Peter specializes in estate
tax planning, estate administration, commercial real
estate transactions and financing. He is a trustee
for the Franklin Lakes Borough Education Foundation
and is a member of the Lakeland Bank Advisory Board.
1987
State Senator John R. Gordner was
inducted into the Berwick (PA) Area School District’s
Academic Hall of Fame at a ceremony May 21 at Berwick
High.
1988
Joseph D. Kerwin was recently elected
to the Halifax National Bank board of directors. Joseph
is a partner in the Lykens, PA, firm of Kerwin and
Kerwin. He lives in Lykens with his wife, Lora, and
their four children.
1989
Diane Burton Dubay is now the happy
(stressed?) mom of a teenage girl!
In May 2005, Francis G. Troyan was
profiled in the Warren, PA, Times Observer. Fran is
the head coach of the women’s softball team
at Lehigh University.
1990
Susan Jin Davis was recently promoted
to vice president of external affairs and investor
relations of Covad Communications Company. In addition
to her current responsibility over government affairs
which includes regulatory and legislative strategy,
advocacy, and lobbying with the Bush administration
on Capitol Hill and at the FCC, Susan is now responsible
for developing and strengthening Covad's institutional
investment relationships and establishing a strong
presence for the company on Wall Street.

Pelcher and his wife, Heather are proud
to announce the birth of a 7 lb., 13 oz. baby
girl, Shelby Anne, born April 19, 2005 in Summerville,
SC. Shelby Anne is the couple's fourth child and
will join their other children: Stephen, Emily,

Martin A. Fritz is the chief information
officer at Equitable Resources. Equitable has recently
moved to new corporate headquarters next to Pirates'
PNC Park in Pittsburgh, PA.
Thomas P. McGonigle is the managing
partner with Wolf Block Schorr & Solis-Cohen’s
Wilmington, DE, office. Thomas primarily handles commercial
litigation. He also has a government-relations practice.
Matthew E. Przywozny is managing
partner of Strugatz & Przywozny, LLC East Brunswick,
NJ.
Michael J. Sternberg was made a
name partner of Hoffman, Michels & Sternberg,
LLC,
the firm that he has practiced with since graduating
in 1992. Michael concentrates his practice in plaintiff's
personal injury work. He and and wife, Janet, have
three children, Nicole, seven, Brett, five, and Victoria,
two. They reside in Churchville, PA.
1993
Daniel E. Cummins, his wife Anne,
and son Daniel, celebrated the birth of Michael Jeffrey
Cummins and welcomed him into their family on April
14, 2005. Daniel and his family reside in Scranton,
PA, where he is a partner in the civil litigation
firm of Foley, Cognetti, Comerford, Cimini & Cummins.
On June 1, 2005, Joseph G. Lewis
accepted a position as assistant general counsel at
EnerSys Delaware Inc., in Reading, PA.
M. Jeffrey Noonan is a vice president
at SunTrust Bank Wilmington, NC.
Andrew D. H. Rau was recently elected
as president of the Chester County Bar Foundation.
The foundation funds initiatives to help citizens
understand and gain access to the legal system. Andrew
is a shareholder in the firm of Unruh, Turner, Burke
& Frees in West Chester, PA.

Christine Hurst Perrucci and her
husband, Michael, welcomed their son, John "Jack"
Simon, on November 18, 2004.
Victoria Gallen Schutt received
a Master of Laws in Taxation degree from Villanova
University in May, 2005.

Jennifer (Hann) Harrison, of Crew
& Buchanan, was elected partner effective January
1, 2006. Jennifer lives in Kettering, OH, with her
husband, Rol.
Aaron D. Martin and his wife, Katie,
welcomed their new daughter, Teagan Hope Anastasia
Martin, on March 11, 2005. Teagan joins her three
older siblings, Kyle, Rhiannon and Iain.
Kathleen M. McCauley is a partner
in the Richmond, VA, office of Goodman, Allen &
Filetti, PLLC; an adjunct assistant professor of law
at the University of Richmond, T.C. Williams School
of Law; and chair of the medical malpractice section
of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys.
Mary-Jo Mullen, CPA, was recently
appointed Executive Director, PA District Attorneys
Association.
Tracy L. Steele, of the Philadelphia,
PA, office of Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, was
elected partner effective October 1, 2005. In April,
Tracy was named the 2005 Outstanding Alumni Council
Member by the Penn State Alumni Association.

Angela L. Heim is division chief,
strategic management with the Department of Homeland
Security - TSA in Arlington, VA.
1997
David N. Farsiou married Wendy N.
Kelley in May 2004. Members of the wedding party included
groomsmen Jeffrey A. Yelen and Wieland
(Lani) D. Chong Jr. Other 1997 classmates
in attendance included Nicole Raymond Chong,
Eric B. Smith, and Stephanie
Nolan Deviney. David is a senior associate
at Woodcock Washburn LLP. He is a member of the firm's
litigation practice group specializing in patent law.
David lives in Yardley, PA.
Todd A. Johns recently served as
Campaign Manager in Thomas J. Munley’s successful
run for judge in the Lackawanna County Court of Common
Pleas. Todd currently has offices in Scranton and
Wilkes-Barre, PA, and is an instructor of history,
political science, and law at Keystone College, La
Plume, PA.
Terri (Collins) Murray recently
started Avabriggs.com, an online boutique offering
unique, personalized, and handmade nursery and gift
items for infants and toddlers. Terri is also the
proud mother of son, Briggs C. Murray.
1999
Alan W. Fenner of High, Swartz, Roberts
& Seidel, Norristown, PA, recently returned home
from a tour of duty in Iraq where he served with the
First Marine Expeditionary Force Engineer Group in
Al Anbar Province. Among other duties, he served as
the officer in charge of reconstruction in Fallujah
following the November 2004 battle to remove insurgents
from the city. Alan, also a registered Professional
Engineer, led a team of Navy Seabees responsible for
the restoration of essential city services and the
reconstruction of critical infrastructure. The team
was established to support the interim Iraqi Government
in planning and executing Fallujah reconstruction
projects. Alan worked closely with local Iraqi government
officials, engineers, and returning city workers.
Occasionally subjected to hostile fire from holdout
insurgents, Alan and his team moved about the city
assessing damage, making emergency repairs when necessary,
and planning and prioritizing work to be performed
by either city workers or Iraqi contactors. Here at
home, Alan concentrates his practice in municipal,
land use and environmental law.
Pietro (Peter) L. Leone is land
acquisition manager for Triple Crown Corporation.
Jessica (Gensler) Lippy and husband,
Jonathan, are pleased to announce the arrival of their
first son, Ethan Zachary, on September 21, 2004.
The Multnomah Bar Association Young Lawyers Section
(MBA YLS) recently elected Emily M. Nazarov,
as a new director to its board. Emily is a judicial
clerk for The Honorable Donald Ashmanskas. She is
also a member of the Gus J. Solomon Inns of Court,
a volunteer attorney for Sponsors Organized to Assist
Refugees, and a co-leader of a Legal Professionals
Team for Stand for Children.

In May 2005, Amy J. Phillips was
elected to a three year term as secretary of the board
of directors for the Young Women’s Christian

Matthew D. Coble has returned to
the Harrisburg, PA, area taking a position with Eckert
Seamans Cherin & Mellott, LLC.
Joel P. Dennison and wife, Stacy,
welcomed their third child, Haley Marie, on March
30, 2005. Haley joins big brother, Owen, two, and
big sister Maren, seven.
Douglas G. Heron is Director, Government
Affairs/Legislative Counsel with the North Carolina
Bar Association.
Todd C. Hough recently joined the
law firm of Lavery, Faherty, Young & Patterson,
Harrisburg, PA. He will concentrate primarily in workers'
compensation defense along with family law and unemployment
compensation defense.
Daniel D. Santos joined the Harrisburg,
PA, office of Saul Ewing LLP as an Associate in the
Business Department. Daniel will concentrate his practice
in insurance regulatory, and general corporate and
finance matters.

Jennifer Young is in London studying
for a master’s degree in public policy from

Jennifer is also working part time with the U.S. Commerce

Multiple Years
In January 2005, Douglas B. Marcello '82
and Sonya Kivisto '04, opened Marcello
& Kivisto, LLC in Carlisle, PA. They concentrate
their practice in the defense of trucking companies.
Henry M. “Tac” Justi ’84
is the chairman/chief executive officer of Justi Group,
Inc., which currently owns and operates four manufacturing
subsidiaries, located in Pennsylvania, Florida and
the United Kingdom, and all of which produce specialty
materials for cosmetic, dental and medical applications.
He is on the board of the non-profit Midatlantic Employers'
Association, and serves on other for-profit boards.
Tac and his wife, Melinda Mazaheri Justi ’83,
will celebrate their twenty-second wedding anniversary
in the summer of 2005. Their oldest child, Henry,
is a student at Lehigh University. Their middle child,
Parker, will enter the University of Pennsylvania
this September as a freshman. Their third child, Lainie,
will be entering 8th grade at the Agnes Irwin School.
The Justi’s live in Haverford, PA.
Christine Kane ’04 and Samuel
T. Hirzel II ’03 have announced their
engagement. They plan a summer 2005 wedding. Christine
is currently a judicial law clerk to Ronald E. Vican,
president judge of Monroe County, PA. She will start
with Carpenter McCadden & Lane in Media, PA, in
August, 2005. Samuel is an associate in the corporate
litigation department at Morris, Nichols, Arsht &
Tunnel, Wilmington, DE.
