Penn State Law John A. Maher Scholarship
This scholarship was established to provide recognition and financial assistance to outstanding law students planning to enroll at The Dickinson School of Law.

Amount: 
$6,500

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicant must be admitted to Penn State Law for the fall  2014 entering class.
  • Applicant must rank in the top 25% of their undergraduate class after 7 semesters.
  • Applicant must rank in the top 25% or all persons who take the Law School Aptitude Test at the same time.
  • Applicant must demonstrate mastery of oral and written English expression as well as oral and written fluency in at least one modern language other than English.
  • Applicant must demonstrate the qualities of honesty, humanity, leadership, and the capacity for professionalism and teamwork.

Samuel J. Goldstein, Esq. Scholarship
This scholarship was established to provide financial assistance to benefit students from Allegheny County and contiguous counties who are planning to attend or already attend law school in Pennsylvania.

Amount:
Varies but is renewable for a second year

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must be from Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Butler, Washington or Westmoreland counties and plan to attend or already attend an accredited law school in Pennsylvania.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need.
  • Applicants must show academic promise demonstrated by a GPA of at least 2.0.
  • Preference is given to applicants of the Jewish faith.
  • Applicants must maintain good grades but need not be in the top 10% of their class academically.
  • Applicants must submit an essay discussing why they are deserving of this scholarship.
  • Applicants must complete a standard admissions application and submit one letter of reference.

Hudson County Bar Foundation Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established to assist Hudson County, NJ residents who attend law school or have been accepted to law school.

Amount:
$2,000 typically

  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

PASFAA Student Scholarship
This scholarship was established by the Pennsylvania Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators to provide financial assistance to PA residents pursuing a higher education.

Amount: 
$500 to $1,000

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicant must be a PA resident.
  • Applicant must be enrolled at least half-time in a degree-seeking program in a post-secondary institution of higher education.
  • Applicant must have a minimum 2.5 GPA from a post-secondary institution of higher education
  • Preference will be given to applicants attending schools that are part of the PASFAA membership (Penn State Law is a member school).

Richard L. Barbour, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Fund
This scholarship was established in memory of former Burlington County prosecutor Richard Barbour, Jr. to provide financial assistance to students who plan to pursue a career as a prosecuting attorney.

$5,000

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicant must be a New Jersey resident.
  • Applicant must be seeking to pursue a career as a prosecuting attorney.
  • Applicant must be attending or accepted for admission to a law school.
  • Winner must agree to attend the Burlington County Prosecutors' Office's PROCOPS banquet on May 15, 2014 to receive the scholarship.

Essex County Bar Association Biunno Scholarship for Law Students with Disabilities
This scholarship was established by the Essex County Bar Association and its Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, in conjunction with the Hon. Vincent J. Biunno memorial Fund.  Designed to offer financial assistance to persons with disabilities who are currently attending law school.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Applicant must demonstrate a present and permanent physical or mental disability that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of the individual. Medical documentation establishing the nature and extent of the disability will be required.
  • Applicant must be a resident of New Jersey. There will be a preference given to Essex County residents.
  • Applicant must be attending law school or be accepted to and commencing studies in law school.
  • Applicant must have attained a 3.0 or equivalent GPA in law school, or if they are an incoming student, a 3.0 undergraduate GPA.
  • Preference given to a person seeking to pursue a career in the field of advocacy for persons with disabilities.  Intent may be demonstrated by completing a course in disability law, work in a disability or disability-related clinic or prior job experience
  • Preference given to students who can demonstrate financial need.

Indiana County Bar Association
This scholarship was established for any person with a history of residency in Indiana County, PA prior to high school graduation who is currently a college senior or college graduate accepted into or currently enrolled in an accredited law school of the American Bar Association

Seidel Family Scholarship
The Seidel Family Scholarship was established for current or former residents of Berks County who are or will be attending The Dickinson School of Law of Penn State University. Francis F. Seidel, II established the fund to honor his son, Francis F. "Fritz" Seidel, III who was a Dickinson School of Law graduate and perished in a 1991 fire with his son.

Amount:
Varies and is set by the Berks County Community Foundation. Past awards have been approximately $8,000 renewable for second and third years of study.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must have been a resident of Berks County, Pennsylvania for at least two consecutive years during their secondary school years.
  • Applicants must be entering or currently attending Penn State's Dickinson School of Law to be eligible to apply.

This scholarship was established by the Keystone Bar Association to support African American, Hispanic, and Native American law students.

Amount: 
$750, varies from year to year.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must be enrolled in Penn State University Dickinson School of Law or Widener Universiy School of Law, Harrisburg campus.
  • Applicants must demonstrate financial need, academic acheivement, and potential for making a contribution to society and the legal profession.
  • Applicants must complete a form and submit an essay detailing how they meet the aforementioned criteria and include letters of recommendation from three individuals, i.e., advisor, professor, dean, employer, or attorney.
