Summer Scholars Program
Program Overview
Students of all Penn State campuses are invited to participate in The Dickinson School of Law's Summer Scholars Program operated in University Park, Pennsylvania. The goals of the program are:
- To provide a preparatory program for students from groups that are underrepresented in the legal profession or who are from disadvantaged backgrounds.
- To prepare the participating students for success on the Law School Admission Test (LSAT).
Eligibility
The program is open to Penn State students who have completed their sophomore or junior year. Those who have completed their senior year will be considered if space permits. The program is intensive, and students who participate should take no more than one other academic course at the same time.
Course Overview
The course will be taught at the Law School by Kaplan lecturers. The program features advanced test-taking strategies and personal attention. Students will take 14 classes.
Program Length and Location
The program will run for five weeks during the first of Penn State's Summer Sessions. We expect to run the program from May 19, 2008, to June 20, 2008, with classes on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Classes will be held at Beam Building, which is the School of Law's transition space while new law school buildings are under construction.
Room and Board
The law school will provide housing and a meal plan for students during the course of the program. Students will reside in dormitories on the University's main campus and have access to designated Penn State cafeterias.
