International Programs
Faculty
The international focus of the Penn State Dickinson
curriculum starts with our faculty. Our Dean, Philip
McConnaughay, spent ten years as a leading lawyer
in Hong Kong and Tokyo and was an advisor to economic
law reform efforts in Indonesia and Vietnam. Professor
Tiyanjana
Maluwa was the first Legal Advisor to the Organization
of African Unity, now the African Union, and is
the immediate past Legal Advisor to the Office of
the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights.
Professor
Tom
Carbonneau is one of the worlds foremost
scholars of comparative and international arbitration.
Professor Louis
F. Del Duca is the former President of the International
Academy of Commercial and Consumer Law.
Advanced Coursework
The professional interests of the faculty mean that Penn State Dickinson
students have the opportunity to move well beyond the introductory level in international
legal topics. Advanced coursework with an international perspective is offered
in comparative, commercial, constitutional, corporate, trade and environmental
law. In addition, students who wish to research a specific area of interest regularly
tap the resources of our faculty to engage in independent study with an international
emphasis.
LL.M. Degree for Foreign Lawyers
Penn State Dickinson offers one of the oldest and
most prestigious master of laws programs for foreign-trained
lawyers, whose presence at the law school enriches
the diversity of our educational experience. LL.M.
candidates are entitled to enroll in every course
offered in our curriculum, along with J.D. candidates.
